What is P3?

P3 is what we use to quickly define our three broad areas of being a missional Christian. These areas include spiritual disciplines that Acts 1:8 followers of Christ exercise in their lives.

Pursuing Christ as Lord

Presenting Christ as Savior

Partnering to present Christ to the world

Pursuing Christ as Lord. When asked, “What is the greatest commandment?” in Matthew 22:36, Jesus answers: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38)

The first step on the road to missional Christianity is to simply pursue Christ will everything you’ve got!

Presenting Christ as Savior. Jesus says in Acts 1:8: “…you will be My witnesses…” The second area of missional Christianity is to present Jesus Christ as the Savior to the people you are around daily, to those you come in contact with on occasion, to people who are culturally different from you, and even to the remotest corners of the world.

Partnering to present Christ to the world. With almost 7 billion people on this planet, no one person, so single class, no individual church can possibly accomplish presenting Christ to the world alone. It takes partners. Paul states in Philippians 1:5 how thankful he was for this church because of “your partnership in the gospel”.

You can partner many ways. Southern Baptist churches partner monetarily through the Cooperative Program mission effort. Your church can partner with other churches and associations. Baptist state conventions partner together. Your Sunday School class can partner together to share the gospel in your community.

Sometimes we partner by being a mentor or a coach for other people. Or by being a leader in a Sunday School class. The key issue is to recognize you have partners, and like Paul, be thankful for them.
